Bimbo Akintola Wins AFRIFF Best Actress Of The Year

Multiple award winning actress; Bimbo Akintola has again been acknowledged for her praiseworthy role in the renowned movie, 93 days.

The outstanding thespian won the award for “Best Actress of The Year” at the recently concluded 2016 for portraying the character of the late Dr Stella Adadevoh in which she gave an exceptional performance.

“It was a huge honour for me to take on the character of such an inspiring woman. Learning about her life was an interesting challenge for me and I knew I had no other choice but to give it my very best. It is my hope that posterity will be able to see and understand what Dr Adadevoh did to help save Nigerians from the Ebola epidemic’’- Bimbo Akintola.

93 days is a movie centered around the Ebola virus outbreak in Nigeria, the battles fought by the unsung heroes led by the late Dr. Stella Adadevoh and the victory won. Due to the strong story behind the movie and outstanding performances by the actors, 93 days was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival 2016 and is in currently showing in cinemas across the country.

AFRIFF(African International Film Festival) is an international platform that promotes and recognizes filmmakers and entertainers in Africa. It is no surprise Bimbo Akintola was honoured with this award.

Nollywood filmmaker, Stephanie Okereke-Linus’ ‘Dry’ has gotten 13 nominations for African NAFCA awards.

Yoruba actress Kudirat Ajimati pass away

 Yoruba actress, Kudirat Ajimat has passed away. A statement released by Theatre Arts and Movie Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Ogun State Chapter, on Tuesday confirmed the news of her death. Part of it read:

“The news of her death got to us this morning as a shocker but we don’t have power to stop God from doing what is right in HIS sight. We will seriously miss you and your friendly lifestyle. RIP.”

Edun popularly called Baby Actress has been exposed.
According to a source who mailed Stella Damasus, pregnant Seyi Edun and Mr Johnson were seen at the Ikeja City Mall last night. A woman identified as Seyi Edun’s sister
reportedly warned Niyi Johnson to make sure he takes good care of Seyi who was seen with a growing baby bump. The source said Niyi late drove Seyi and her sister off in Seyi’s car as she used her left hand
to cover her eyes and her right hand to hold her belly.
Though the two lovers have denied their intimate affairs, the source said this pregnancy is likely to expose them if she didn’t end up terminating it as she has done in the past.

Rotterdam this evening. The singer beat African music heavyweights including Black Coffee & Cassper Nyovest from South Africa, Olamide and Ali Kiba of Tanzania. Only last month, Wizkid also won Best African Act at the MOBO Awards. It’s been a big year for the 26 year old star.

Maltina dance all season 9

The Nigeria bottling company annual talent show, Maltina dance all (MDA) season 9, themed Happiness Amplified has started. Numerous families was auditioned through online videos, but 15 families was chosen for the grand audition. 10 families out of the 15 made it into the academy. They are:

The first night dance was for the wazobia dance style where they get to choose different songs from the three tribes in Nigeria; Hausa,Igbo and Yoruba. The judges finds it difficult to decide due to their professional, entertaining and excellent performance. But the Atangari family and the Atunowu family was put up for eviction. Next up is the salsa dance style, it was a difficult task for nearly all the families where the Manari family, the Jackson family and the Adah family joined the previous two for eviction due to there unconvincing performance. They will have to perform both the wazobia dance and the salsa dance style at the eviction showdown next week.
